In the annals of Coquitlam Search and Rescue’s history, there exists a chapter illuminated by the spirit and unwavering dedication of Sharon Tokar, a trailblazer in every sense of the word. Sharon’s journey as the first female Search Manager for Coquitlam Search and Rescue in the early 1980s stands as a testament to her pioneering spirit. Beyond her role as a Search Manager, Sharon assumed the vital responsibility of Treasurer, a position she held with resourcefulness. In the absence of a checking account, she meticulously managed the team’s finances, distributing mileage payments in humble coin envelopes with receipts in a shoebox. Her dedication and meticulous attention to detail ensured that every member of the team received their due, even in
the face of logistical challenges.
