December 13, 1944 – August 25, 2024
Glen was a member of Coquitlam Search and Rescue in the mid 90’s to early 2000’s and held various positions on the team such as Treasure, Training Officer & Recruitment Chair. He was the architect of our current recruitment format. Glen enjoyed “getting out there” and going off the beaten path. He travelled extensively.
Glen tragically passed away from a motorcycle accident on Aug 25. Born in Toronto, he graduated high school and began UBC in 1964, initially studying Geology before switching to Mathematics and earning a Bachelor of Science. In 1969, he began UBC Law, graduated in 1972, and started his practice in Powell River. In 1989, he retired, moved to Coquitlam, completed a degree in accounting and became a CGA. He had a broad range of interests, particularly outdoor activities like hiking and canoeing. He authored two books about his experiences, a canoeing guidebook and a wilderness survival guide. Glen was a deeply caring man, volunteering with organizations such as the Coquitlam Crisis Line, Coquitlam Search and Rescue, Burke Mountain Naturalists, Food Bank, Qualicum Beach Streamkeepers, Arrowsmith Naturalists, among others.
Glen was adventurous, involved, enjoyed challenges, and was dedicated to whatever he did. He was a good guy and a valuable member.
