Last night members of Coquitlam SAR did some cross training with members of Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 2 (North Vancouver).
Formerly know as the Coast Guard Auxiliary, RCM-SAR Station 2 is responsible for search and rescue responses in the coastal areas of BC. Station 2 is located in the Lynwood Marina, and has Indian Arm in their response area. Coquitlam SAR members met members of Station 2 at Belcarra dock for a demonstration of their vessel’s capabilities.
Coquitlam SAR has worked with RCM-SAR in the past, most recently on several calls to Granite Falls this year. Cross training between SAR units is a great way to be prepared for actual joint responses.
