On Sept 15th, 2012 Coquitlam SAR worked together with Talon Helicopters to practise hover exit/entry procedures, stretcher loading and HETS (Helicopter External Transportation System) insertion and extraction.
30 members took part in the training on a sunny, warm September morning.
Ground SAR members were involved in HETS flights to orientate them to being flown in or out of a location.
Ground SAR members were able to experience riding in the subject harness, also called the screamer suit.
Reporter Sarah Payne from the Tri-City News attended the training session also. She was able to participate in one of the hover exit/entry scenarios to experience moving in/out of a hovering helicopter.
